Several years ago the members of High St. Baptist Church in Somerset, KY found the resources to build a very large building that they hoped would someday be a new sanctuary, classrooms & kitchen/fellowship hall.  2017 was the year that those dreams became a reality.  After a series of meetings with the minister and his tech staff we were able to design sound, lighting, video projection and video capture that would meet their needs now and into the future. By listening closely to those wants and needs Pro Sound was able not only fulfill there dreams but keep everything on budget.

The main speaker in the sound system, that covers 70% of the room, is the Worxaudio X3. An amazing powered speaker that incorporates three double 8” line array modules in a single box.  Super wide coverage, 140º horizontal, is one of the features in all the Worxaudio line array models. QSC subwoofers, QSC sidefill speakers and QSC amplifiers round out the main speaker system. A Soundcraft Impact 32 channel digital mixer with dbx PMC16 personal monitor mixers and several Audio Technica wireless in-ear systems work seamlessly together to provide crisp clear sound for the congregation and the 9-member praise band.

High quality music is always important, but excellent lighting can also play a role in creating that perfect atmosphere.  A combination of LED ellipsoidal’s, RGB LED fixtures and moving head lights all controlled by an Elation Showdesigner 2CF is capable of doing just that.  The light person also has, at their fingertips, a haze machine to add some atmospheric fog on the platform to enhance the lighting effect.  The equipment listed above is capable of any combination of colors and textures that the church would ever need.

Video projection is always an important consideration for many churches and High St. is no exception.  Dual high definition video screens mounted on the wall help bring the literal word to the congregation. With an additional screen, located at the back of the room, the worship team can also see the words being displayed on the main screens.  The video operators use an Apple iMac computer and ProPresenter software running through a Roland HD video switcher before the signal is sent to the projectors. Inputs on the Roland also include two of the HD robotic video cameras that were installed for the video capture system.

Speaking of video capture, the church was very fortunate to have the funds that would allow them to purchase four robotic cameras, a Blackmagic virtual HD video switcher controlled by an iMac computer, and a joystick control system to keep the cameras aimed as needed.  The audio feed is being controlled by an iPad using the new ViSi Listen app.  This app allows the iPad to connect via WiFi to the Soundcraft Impact thus giving the video operator control over a completely separate pre-fade mix. This a very important feature when trying to create an excellent audio mix for video.

All the equipment in the world is quite useless unless the operators get thorough training. This is one of our most important goals when commissioning a system.  Training and documentation is key to having a successful installation and we think High St. Baptist Church will love their system for many years to come.
